SITUATION: The world has responded with widespread condemnation and pledged / committed support to Ukrainians on the front lines, displaced persons within Ukraine, and refugees forced to leave Ukrainian territory.
The United Nations has voted overwhelmingly, deploring Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and called for the immediate withdrawal of its forces. In a global expression of outrage that highlighted Russia’s increasing isolation, the resolution stated the UN “deplores in the strongest terms the aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine”.
Overview: American Legion Post 156, Ellicott City Maryland, in collaboration with Veteran Service Organizations of Howard County, has established Brothers, Sisters, Ukraine’s to organize monetary donations.
Monetary donations provided to Brothers, Sisters, Ukraine will be used to purchased specifically identified and high-quality items or provided directly to vetted aid organizations to meet clearly identified needs such as medical kits, food provisions, and other urgently needed resources.
Brothers, Sisters, Ukraine will identify requirements by selectively working with aid and non-governmental organizations that are fully vetted and currently working in the region to ensure direct support to Ukrainians on the front lines, displaced persons within Ukraine, and refugees forced to leave Ukrainian territory.
By donating funds, individuals and organizations agree to allow Brothers, Sisters, Ukraine the discretion to expend resources responsibly and based on current need of aid to non-governmental organizations that are vetted and providing direct support to Ukrainians on the front lines, displaced persons within Ukraine, and refugees forced to leave Ukrainian territory.
